Plagiarism: famous dress
This is a group of portrait photographs about fashion. It works by cutting out hand-painted images of famous skirts worn by some female celebrities and putting them on the portrait photos of a woman of ordinary stature. The author tries to discuss fashion in this way: fashion has the characteristics of universality. Everyone has equal right to pursue fashion.
The inspiration of this group of works comes from the author’s exploration of fashion, the celebrity effect and even feminism during my study experience at the University of Sussex. The author wants to show the relationship between these three aspects through this series of photographs, as well as the results of thinking about these. The specific creative source of this work is inspired by the fashion photography ‘Reality Paper Doll’ by the famous Taiwanese photographer Ajax Lee which through exquisite cardboard art, the models were made into “real dolls wearing high-grade paper dresses”.
