Motherhood and Feminism

Motherhood and Feminism

Ophelia Weston

‘Motherhood and Feminism’ is a mixed media animated documentary discussing the conflict and responsibility that women face today: career or motherhood? The documentary is told through a conversation between me and my mum where we explore these issues and delve into each other’s childhood through archive photographs and VHS recordings.

‘Motherhood and Feminism’ takes inspiration aesthetically from Charlie Tyrells ‘My Dead Dad’s Porno Tapes’. However, it was strongly influenced by feminist research I have done here at the University of Sussex, which prompted me to explore it through something closer to me, through my mum.
