MIGRANTS IN THER CITY
My project is based on the ‘relocation policy’ in China which aims to rebuild a planning area through the transition. I chose photography as the medium of my project because it can be directly perceived through the senses. It not only provides architecture aesthetics but more to do with political issues, history and culture events. The society is developing so fast and full of competition, the powerless and the aged will be left behind, while they still choose to stay in their old houses. So, the main purpose of my project is to discuss the ‘other half’ as ordinary people, the old generation in particular, in the real living conditions of their surroundings lives.
Conform to the development, old markets and residents are replaced by apartments, supermarkets and commercial buildings. The unplanned past are cleared following a scheduled modern city. The rapid economic growth demand high level of
labour force, so the young generation plans to earn their lives in a city.
