INTERACTION IN CONTEMPORARY MUSEUMS
The project Interaction in Contemporary Museums draws attention to the behaviour and interaction between audience and artworks. Through the movie National Gallery directed by Frederick Wiseman in 2014, it is revealed that the essence of a gallery is the life of the institution. In order to understand what artworks bring to people’s lives it is crucial to understand every part of the operation and the systems, from observing framers at work, through to the talk among curators.
Lihui observes people’s behaviour in different museums in London. Nowadays, museums are becoming more relaxed places to spend spare time, however most of the audience are just looking at the surface of the artworks rather than staying for an extended time to understand the internal meaning of artworks.
