CAGED WHALE (THE STORY OF AZIZ ANZABI)
Hassan Souri, Bige Targit
Caged Whale is a documentary about Aziz Anzabi, an Iranian artist based in London. Through his life and experiences, the documentary questions our understanding of the word “refugee”, the unseen element of talent that lies behind it, as well as the meaning of art and what it has turned into in the 21st century.
Through our studies, we grew our interest in the spirit of using documentary to reveal social and humanitarian issues. Accordingly, this project aims to test the boundaries of documentary filmmaking, not only by using it as a tool to challenge people to think outside of their accepted social and cultural views, but also integrating cinematic features and visual effects to enhance the emotional quality of our film.
